Three distinct services, priced honestly. Proofreading is the final pass: spelling, grammar, punctuation and formatting slips. Copy-editing goes deeper — sentence-level clarity, consistency of terms, tone and flow. Substantive editing restructures: reordering sections, cutting repetition and tightening arguments so the document actually persuades. Most clients in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah ask for proofreading when what their document needs is copy-editing — I will tell you which tier fits before you pay.
I edit both English and Arabic documents: business reports, tenders and proposals, website copy, and university theses. All work is delivered with tracked changes in Microsoft Word or suggesting mode in Google Docs, so you see every edit and accept or reject each one — nothing is silently rewritten.
Consistency is enforced against a style guide: yours if you have one, or a one-page style sheet I build for you covering UK vs US spelling, number formats, AED currency notation and capitalisation of UAE entity names. For free-zone and mainland SMEs producing client-facing proposals, that consistency is often the difference between looking established and looking improvised.
